Analysis in progress
The data for Hanzo is up to date — it comes straight from the wiki. What's missing is the commentary: what the hero actually does, their builds and their counters. That can't be extracted; it has to be written.

Story
Shadow Sect genius ninja at a crossroads A Shadow Sect genius ninja in the Scarlet Shadow. In order to pursue great power, he absorbed the "Hanekage" into his body and used the enemy's flesh and blood to nourish the "Hanekage". After gaining power, he took the strongest supreme ninjutsu and Ame no Habakiri into the Scarlet Shadow, and went further and further on the path of killing. ===Nindo's End=== "Protecting the secrets of the Sacred Tools is your duty; value it more than your life."
As Hanzo awoke in the middle of the night from the pain inflicted by the Ame no Habakiri, he remembered this teaching that had led him down this path of no return. Before turning his back on Scarlet Shadow, Hanzo was the sharpest blade in the Shadow Sect.
Adopted by the Shadow Sect at a young age, Hanzo was lucky to escape the fate of a wandering beggar. He learned the ways of Nindo, to “uphold justice and endure hardship,” and lived his new life according to his teachings. For the Scarlet Shadow, his beloved home, he was ready to do anything.
Fierce and tenacious like a wolf, Hanzo has always embarked on the most perilous missions. Even when he returned with serious injuries, he made his full report before seeking treatment. Failure was something even Hanzo's greatest rivals wouldn't dare think about. They knew Hanzo would stop at nothing to achieve his goals.
Over the course of a decade, Hanzo accumulated so much merit that his peers considered him, a commoner by birth, second only to Kurēn, the next heir of the clan. Hanzo recognized Kurēn's unparalleled wisdom. If Kurēn swore to defend Nindo after taking power, then Hanzo would become his sharpest blade.
Until now, Hanzo had never thought his past was wrong, but it was his near-obsessive persistence that brought him to this point.
Some time ago, Hanzo, while immersed in the Nindo scriptures, suddenly realized that his peers, other orphans adopted by the clan, had been regularly disappearing without any explanation. Very perplexed, Hanzo began to investigate alone. During his research, he came across several elders, which resulted in him being stripped of all rank in the clan. The merits he acquired at the risk of his life were erased overnight. Hanzo cared little for fame, but he knew something sinister was being concealed. Eventually, he discovered that the ancients had sent ninjas on a mission to the Forbidden Grounds to steal a cursed tool that was supposedly sealed within: the demon blade Ame no Habakiri.
Countless lives were sacrificed to the demonic blade. Hanzo couldn't bear to think how many members of the Scarlet Shadow who simply sought to uphold justice ended up with this fate.
A momentary lapse in concentration led to Hanzo being discovered by another ninja in the Forbidden Grounds: it was Kurēn.
In the dark, stone chamber, Kurēn revealed the truth about the Scarlet Shadow: the two factions of the clan vied for control of the Seven Sacred Tools, each attempting to tip the balance of power in their favor. The elders of the Shadow Sect sacrificed their own to the Ame no Habakiri in order to awaken its true power.
Kurēn had secretly gained influence to abolish this vile practice once he became the leader of the clan, and seeing Hanzo, he was eager for a ninja from Nindo to help him change the future of the clan.
“Those who were sacrificed to Ame no Habakiri...what about their future?”
Kurēn had no answer to his question, which made Hanzo angry. He had seen too many hypocrites pretending to act for the common good, and in that moment he realized that the Scarlet Shadow was no different. His Nindo did not tolerate bad deeds, so the Scarlet Shadow should not exist. If they craved Ame no Habakiri's power so much, he would show them his true might.
As Hanzo grabbed the demon blade from the pedestal, he thought, "Come, either devour me, or let me devour everything!"
The moment he grabbed the Ame no Habakiri, its unbridled demonic power invaded his body. In a trance, he saw a whirlwind swallowing ships, or was it a leviathan devouring entire islands? Quickly he realized what he was really seeing:
It was a vortex of souls; the ninjas who had been sacrificed, and countless others before them. Their wills had long since been erased, leaving only insatiable hunger and restless darkness within the blade; a madness that was neither human nor demonic.
Demonic power invaded Hanzo's very being, but his pride refused to be consumed. Feeding on his rage and obsession, he eventually tamed the Ame no Habakiri.
“Naive President, you will witness my reign from this blade.”
And with that, Hanzo swung the blade at his former comrade Kurēn. "Gaining influence"... is just a cowardly compromise of the weak. Without the courage to take the first step, change would never happen.
After devouring Kurēn, Hanzo left the forbidden grounds. He knew that his path as a Shadow Sect ninja was broken forever. But what about it? This Akuma will eliminate the Scarlet Shadow's rot once and for all.
Did you know?
- The name Hanzo was borne by the infamous ninja Hanzō Hattori, nicknamed Oni no Hanzō (Demon Hanzō).
- The name is derived from the letter 半 (han) meaning "half" and 蔵 (zō/zou) meaning "to hide".
- Its title, Akuma Ninja, is derived from the word "Akuma" (悪魔), which translates to devil, demon or evil spirit in English. It is formed from the combination of two Japanese characters: "aku" (悪), which means "bad" or "evil", and "ma" (魔), which means "spirit", "magic" or "ghost". This perfectly shows his power-hungry character as an evil ninja.
- According to Japanese mythology, Ame no Habakiri is one of the 4 Totsuka swords. Ame no Habakiri was used by Susanoo to kill Yamata no Orochi.
- The Japanese word written on its back is Fū which translates to “seal”.
- Certain aspects of Hanzo's armor and mask resemble the Tengu, mythical creatures who were feared and respected as powerful ninja-like beings.
- Hanzo has one of the fastest jungles as his first skill (Ninjutsu: Demon Feast) instantly eats jungle monsters, gaining buffs faster than most heroes.
