Artificial human made at Laboratory 1718.
Story
Dr. Baker was one of the co-founders of the 1718 Laboratory, an institution created with the aim of bringing world peace. But as his colleagues, that is, other scientists, delved deeper and deeper into their depraved human weaponry experiments, Dr. Baker felt he had no choice but to leave it all behind him and pursue a new project. Renouncing the questionable ethics of human experimentation, he endeavored to create a new type of life form, using nothing but a mechanical skeleton, puppet strings, and synthetic skin. Finally, a new generation of artificial life is born. Dr. Baker firmly believed that love and hope were humanity's greatest inventions. So he programmed the world's most moving stories into the heart of his new creation, transforming it into an Android-based robot intended to help others.
One fine morning, Peace Android Prototype 1 woke up from his bed and Dr. Baker named this adorable mechanical angel Angela. Angela followed the tutelage of Dr. Baker, studying hard to understand the world and hoping to live up to the inventor's high expectations. However, their peaceful life together was soon interrupted. When the mad scientist at Lab 1718 heard rumors that Dr. Baker had created a living soul outside of a human body, which did not fit with their ideas of creating flesh weapons, they could not bear to believe it. They were convinced among themselves that Baker had betrayed them, keeping this knowledge to himself before fleeing, and so they ordered Dr. Baker's past creations, Alpha|Alpha and Beta, to hunt down Dr. Baker and his creation. As their pursuers were about to close in on them, Dr. Baker placed Angela in a flight pod, ordering her to search for her good friend Rooney.
Did you know?
- Angela is a female first name. It is derived from the Greek word ángelos (ἄγγελος), which means angel in Greek belief systems.
- She is the first hero that can be attached to a hero using her Ultimate, the second is Gloo.
- She wears a separate doll for each skin that resembles her appearance on the hero selection screen. She used to throw the puppet as a basic attack when it was still in development, but the animation was eventually changed to simple heart-shaped projectiles. This doll can now only be visible in the game when using her Heartguard to possess an ally. The doll will be seen on top of the Allied Hero model.
- Because some users found her old eyes disturbing and distressing, Angela's splash art was changed.
- Her Starlight skin was renamed from China Doll to Shanghai Maiden.
