Carmilla

Many years ago, Carmilla was born in Ansaac House in Aberleen Castle. As the Count's only daughter, she was loved by her entire family since birth. When she grew up, her distinguished family background coupled with her captivating beauty made her one of the most popular noble ladies in Aberleen Castle, and perhaps even in the entire Empire. However, her royal origin was inevitably linked to tragedy and would become a political tool of her father, Count Anssac, consolidating power by betrothing her to another powerful family.

Although countless aristocrats tried to woo Carmilla, none of them pleased her. Her innate pride made her refuse to bow to mediocrity. What she wanted was someone who could connect with her soul. But his father, Earl Ansaac, had already made up his mind. As the threat of the Abyss grew closer, he knew that the new class of military nobles would dominate the country's politics. Thus, he had to establish good relationships with them in order to maintain his family's social status. However, a rather insignificant man in the eyes of the old count foiled this plan. This man was Cecilion, the best opera singer in the Southern Empire. Carmilla has become his most loyal audience since the first day he came to Aberleen Castle. In Carmilla's eyes, he was so elegant and talented, but she could also see the melancholy and mystery in his eyes. For each performance of Cecilion, Carmilla would sit in the right middle of the auditorium, quietly enjoying the performance of her song.

One day, as the curtains were calling, Cecilion and Carmilla's eyes met. The flames of passion ignited between them. And like a bolt of lightning splitting the dark night sky, they instantly fell in love.

The days that followed were the happiest of Carmilla's life. At nightfall, Cécile got dressed and came to invite him to the opera, singing songs he had composed for her. And Carmilla watched his performance intently, never taking her eyes off him. At the end of the show, they met backstage, dancing in the moonlight. And early in the morning, Cecilion placed a rose on Carmilla's windowsill, nourished by the morning dew, and quietly left.

As time passed, Carmilla noticed something unusual about Cecilion. He lived in solitude and never had unnecessary contact with others. His skin was always pale, even when he didn't wear makeup; and it seemed like he was always trying to avoid something. In his eyes, Carmilla could sense his desire for a normal life, and she could vaguely see that Cecilion might have a connection to the legendary blood demon species. Although Cecilion never told him about his origins, she still chose to believe in him, because she felt his love was real. It didn't matter if he was a man or a blood demon, it was just a matter of love between them, and Carmilla believed that she would always belong to Cecilion and spend the rest of her life with him.

Although they loved each other so deeply, Carmilla's father, the Earl, forbade her from marrying this humble singer. He imprisoned her and forced her to marry Baron Tawil, general of the imperial army, stationed near Aberleen Castle. In order to make Carmilla forget about Cecilion, the count even sent his men to close the opera house. In Cecilion's mind, he knew that the love between the blood demon and humanity would never be true. Even though he loved Carmilla, he ultimately decided to give up. The day he left, he wrote her a letter in which he told her everything, his origins, his story, and left her with a rose on her window sill.

Carmilla didn't stop fighting, she wasn't ready to succumb to her father's will. But his heart broke when he read his farewell letter. To Carmilla, it didn't matter what species he belonged to. She loved him and without him her life would no longer have meaning.

She stood at the window, looking in the direction Cecilion was going. As dawn broke, she slit her wrist with a sharp dagger. The world fell into endless darkness. And Carmilla buried her love in her own way.

When Carmilla woke up, she found herself in Cecilion's arms again. His eyes were full of kindness and he looked at her. Then she discovered that his touch was so cold, as if she were lifeless, and that her skin was as pale as Cecilion's. She knew it, her lover did not abandon her, he came back and revived her with his blood. These two lonely souls were finally together again and could live together forever.

After that day, the people of Aberleen Castle never saw Cecilion or Carmilla again, only the legendary tales of the night, which passed from mouth to mouth over time. When night came, Carmilla snuggled into Cecilion's arms above the upper tower of Aberleen Castle, as if time had stood still.
