Format rules

The simulator follows the order described by the game wiki and by Liquipedia. Each rule links to its source; what the sources leave out is flagged.

Ranked (Draft Pick)

  • Draft Pick opens from the Epic rank.[1]
  • The number of bans depends on the highest rank in the match: 3 per team in Epic, 4 in Legend, 5 in Mythic and above.[1][2]
  • Both teams ban at the same time, over two rounds, so they can ban the same hero. The sources do not say how many bans fall in each round: the simulator groups them into one.[2][3]
  • Picks: blue 1, red 2, blue 2, red 2, blue 2, red 1. A banned or already picked hero cannot be picked.[3]
  • 25 seconds to ban, 30 to pick, per player. When time runs out, the ban stays empty and the pick is random: the game favours the player's most played heroes, which the simulator does not know, so it draws among heroes that fill an open lane.[4][3]
  1. Both · ban ×5
  2. Blue · pick ×1
  3. Red · pick ×2
  4. Blue · pick ×2
  5. Red · pick ×2
  6. Blue · pick ×2
  7. Red · pick ×1

Order in Mythic; in Epic and Legend only the number of bans changes.

Tournament (MPL, M-series)

  • 10 bans in all, 5 per team.[3][7]
  • Bans are taken in turns, blue team (left) first, then picks in the same order as ranked.[5][6]
  • Picks: blue 1, red 2, blue 2, red 2, blue 2, red 1. A banned or already picked hero cannot be picked.[3]
  • On stage, leagues split these bans into two phases with picks in between. Our sources do not publish that order: the simulator sticks to what they document.
  1. Blue · ban ×1
  2. Red · ban ×1
  3. Blue · ban ×1
  4. Red · ban ×1
  5. Blue · ban ×1
  6. Red · ban ×1
  7. Blue · ban ×1

The bot

The bot bans from the top of the ranking at the chosen rank, which combines win rate and ban rate. For its picks it only keeps heroes that add a lane to its team, ranked on our data at that rank: counters to your picks, duos with its own, win rate. Every choice is explained in one line.

The advantage index

The summary adds up the win-rate gaps measured in ranked games between the heroes of both teams, plus each team's duo gains. It is an estimate built from those measurements only, not a win probability.

What to pick

Enter at least one enemy hero. Suggestions are ranked first by counters, then by synergy with your own picks; win rate is only used as a tiebreaker.

Counters and synergies come from relationships reported by the game, not from opinion. They don't cover every matchup: a hero with no known counter in a lineup isn't necessarily a bad pick — it simply has nothing specific to answer there.
