Cumulative chance
Where to find the odds? Every draw event publishes its rules and probabilities in game: open the event in the shop and look for the rules screen. Enter the chance of the exact prize you want, not a whole category's, if the game gives the breakdown.
Method
Each draw is treated as independent, with the same chance p of getting the prize. The chance of having it within n draws is 1 − (1 − p)ⁿ; with a guarantee on draw N, it reaches 100% on the Nth draw.
The average number of draws is (1 − (1 − p)ᴺ) / p with a guarantee, 1 / p without. The price uses the cheapest mix of 10-draws and single draws; the average in diamonds is given for both ways of drawing.
One-off discounts (half-price first draw of the day, discount weeks), free tokens and weekly milestone rewards aren't counted: they lower the real cost.
A Crystal of Aurora replaces one diamond in draws: count them together in your budget.
What the calculation doesn't know
The game often gives the chance for a category (“a skin”, 1%) rather than for a specific skin. If the skin you want is one of several, its chance is lower: enter it if the event publishes it.
Some events aren't simple draws: a price that rises with each draw (Grand Collection), points to build up (Zodiac), cores to exchange (Magic Wheel). This calculation doesn't apply to them.
Where to find an event's odds
Moonton displays the probabilities of every draw in game, with the event's rules. The MLBB wiki copies some of them: the calculator's presets come from there, with the page date, because rules can change.
FAQ
- Do 100 draws at 1% guarantee the prize?
- No. Each draw starts from scratch: 100 draws at 1% give a 63% chance, and it takes 459 to reach 99%, unless a guarantee kicks in sooner.
- Is it better to draw 10 at a time?
- When the 10-draw costs less than ten single draws, the price per draw goes down; but if the prize drops early, you've still paid for the rest of the 10-draw. The calculator gives the average for both.
- Does the pity reset after a prize?
- It depends on the event: read its rules. The calculation covers the first prize you get, where the question doesn't arise.
