A mysterious demon hunter who operates outside the conventions of the Church of Light. Always seen with a violin case in hand, he hunts down demons with his two soul-devouring weapons.
Story
A bard, a famous demon hunter Granger, a demon hunter who is somewhere between human and demon, always preferred to stay alone. But if anyone could enter his world, they would realize how terrifying it is: the incessant screams and shrill screams constantly deafen his ears and his heart. When he draws his demon-eating weapons and unleashes a hail of bullets, the demons' agonizing screams become a requiem playing deep within his soul. Only the intertwining of their death cries and the sound of gunshots can drown out the noise that torments him every day. Every shot Granger fires is not only her performance against the Abyss, but also an expression of her lament. === Bullet Sonata === An unnamed city on the border of the Moniyan Empire is Granger's destination for this trip
He walked leisurely, the bright red scarf around his neck exuding a strange aura. His skin was as pale as parchment, with a high collar covering half of his face, revealing only a pair of dark eyes.
Granger headed towards the outskirts of the city, fully aware of what awaited him. Even though their deep growls were hard to hear, the ringing in his ears that he despised was growing louder and louder.
Suddenly, a familiar melody caught Granger's attention. A child sits in the street and plays a tune on a flute. It is the “Hymn to the Light”, a song he often heard when he was young.
Granger's childhood was tragic, to say the least.
One night, his city was attacked by demons. With nowhere to escape, Granger's parents hid him in a small space under the floorboards. As the demons burst in and dragged his parents away, their screams and demonic growls left an indelible shadow on his young heart. This memory turned into a constant ringing in her ears, torturing Granger night after night. The pain caused him to withdraw from others and he became more and more reclusive. Until the day when a beautiful and sweet melody calmed the ringing, like a warm hand on his heart, granting him a moment of peace that he had almost forgotten.
For the first time, he stepped out of his chaotic world and looked up to see a priest playing the violin.
“What is the name of this room?”
The priest took a pen and paper from his pocket and wrote the words "Hymn to the Light."
It turned out that the priest was once the choir leader of the Monastery of Light. It was his job to soothe people's suffering hearts with his voice. But years ago, when Alice infiltrated Lumina City and threw the city into chaos, the priest was struck by a demon and lost the ability to speak. But instead of falling into despair, he picked up the violin and continued to help others through music.
Perhaps the sound of the violin was too inviting. Granger left his world and followed the priest to the monastery. He even tried to learn the violin but could only produce discordant noises.
"It seems like I have no talent," Granger lamented dejectedly. The priest smiled and showed him that true melody does not come from talent, but from kindness and perseverance in the heart, and in this aspect he thought Granger had a lot of it.
Granger, who failed to make much progress in music, showed exceptional talent in hunting demons. The leaders of the Church personally invited him to join the ranks of their demon hunters, even offering him a specialized weapon: a pair of demon-eating pistols capable of absorbing demonic energy and converting it into special bullets for killing demons. The few friends he had, including Alucard, invited him to hunt demons together, but Granger refused. Even though the priest's music had healed his chaotic world, the night of his parents' deaths still remained in his heart like a permanent wound, bleeding at the slightest touch.
The priest respected Granger's decision. He believed that even the deepest wounds could heal one day and that this introverted and gentle child would eventually accept the past and move towards a better future.
But that day would never come.
Dyrroth, the Prince of the Abyss, led his Abyssal legions through the Moonlight Forest to attack the Moniyan Empire. In response, the Church of Light recruited demon hunters to prepare for the impending war. Seeing Granger disturbed by this, the priest let him take leave of the monastery to decide his future. Whether or not he chooses to remain a demon hunter, the monastery will always be his home.
But when Granger returned to the monastery, he saw only burning ruins and the priest lying in a pool of blood – the demons had already struck.
Whatever he chose, it no longer made sense.
The priest's hand still held the violin bow. Granger could almost imagine the priest calmly performing his final requiem as the demons attacked. The ringing invades his world again. But this time, there would be no Hymn to the Light to appease him. There would be no one to smile and comfort his pain, no one to play him a lullaby to help him sleep. How could he silence this piercing noise... this creeping madness... this deafening rage in his chest?
Sensing the presence of a living soul, the demons stationed nearby moved closer. Granger took out her weapons and began a frenzied 'performance'. As the screams of the demons grew louder, the sound of the bullets also grew louder. The two cacophonies intertwined in a grand requiem, drowning out the ringing in Granger's ears. He suddenly realized that for him, it was the only way to ease the pain. Blood for blood, until all evil is dead and gone.
After that, Granger officially became a demon hunter. He named one of his pistols "Dirge", modified the other into a cannon and installed it in the priest's violin case, which he named "Requiem". He wrapped bandages around his hands to prevent bloodshed from staining the hands that once hoped to learn the violin. From then on, every hunt became a requiem for those he lost.
The memories that had resurfaced were shattered again.
Granger's attention returned to the present. Since he set foot in this small town, the ringing in his ears hasn't stopped, but he knew that everything would calm down soon.
He crouched down and gently placed a few coins in front of the child.
As the “Ave Maria” reached its finale, the Demon Hunter’s Death Sonata was about to begin.
