Climb the ranks

Ranked

The competitive queue. Each win earns stars and takes you from Warrior up to Mythical Glory, with bans and draft pick from Epic onward.

Ranked is a competitive queue game mode. Players earn or lose stars if they win or lose in this mode. Warrior, Elite, Master, Grandmaster, Epic, Legend and Mythic (Mythical Honor, Mythical Glory and Mythical Immortal) are the seven ranks of Mobile Legends: Bang Bang.

Connection rules

Players can choose three heroes to feature in their lobby and draft phase. These heroes must be played at least once in a row.

Players can play solo or form a team of two, three, or five players to queue up. Players can invite other players of a higher or lower rank than them to the lobby. A team of four people is not permitted.

When a team with players of different ranks queues, it is called Flex Rank, and they will only queue the matches of the highest ranked person.

Examples:

  • A Mythic player teams up with an Epic player, both will follow the Mythic player's draft rule.
  • A Mythic Glory player teams up with a Grandmaster player and a Legend player, all of whom will follow the Mythic player draft rule, although Draft Pick is not normally available to players below Epic rank.

However, a player in solo queue may find themselves matchmaking with higher or lower ranked allies, this can be triggered by the following:

  • Allies play as a team while you are solo. Among the allies of said team is at least one player of similar rank to yours.
  • Example: An Epic player teams up with a Legend player and you, an Epic player, can meet them.
  • All players are playing solo, but the enemy team has someone with a similar rank to you.
  • Example: Your rank is Legend, but 4 of your teammates are Mythic. So at least one of the enemies is Legend.
  • When this phenomenon occurs, it is possible that only one team member is in a different rank.
  • Example: Your team has 4 players at Legend rank and 1 player at Mythic rank, this means the enemy team can have 1-4 players at Mythic rank, but there must be someone at Epic rank.
  • Thanks to this Flex Rank mechanic, even a solo player from Legend I can queue with an ally from Epic V, as they are just a different rank, but the gap is very different, leading to the widely perceived dark system.

A quick matchmaking option will be offered if the queue is taking too long, this option will match you even with players you blocked previously.

If the player you blocked teams up with someone you don't block, you can still queue with them during the match.

Draft picks

When a player reaches Epic V or higher (Grandmaster V or higher in Advanced Server), Draft Pick becomes available for future matches. Unlike Blind Pick, Draft Pick allows both teams to see their heroes during their selection, and allows up to 10 banned heroes (3/4/5 bans in Epic/Legend/Mythic) for each team for balancing purposes. Heroes already selected or banned cannot be chosen for the duration of the match.

Ranking system

There are seven ranks in Mobile Legends: Bang Bang. They are: Warrior, Elite, Master, Grandmaster, Epic, Legendary and Mythical.

Each rank has divisions written in Roman numerals and a certain number of stars necessary to be promoted to the next division or rank. If a player exceeds the maximum number of stars in their current division or falls below zero stars, they can move to the next division or return to the previous division. Completing all divisions from their current rank or being demoted from all divisions will result in promotion to the next rank or demotion to the previous rank.

In Mythic, stars have been replaced with points to advance to the next division.

Star Raising and Star Protection Points

There are many methods to increase or prevent star loss, leading to star elevation and protection points.

Star Raising allows players to earn an additional star when a player reaches 100% Star Raising Points on their next victory. 100/200/300/500/700/1000 points required at Warrior / Elite / Master / Grandmaster / Epic / Legend. Star increase bonus points cannot be accumulated in Mythic ranks.

Star Protection allows players to avoid losing a star in a match by reaching 100% Star Protection points or using Star Protection cards. 100/200/300/500/700/1000/1500 points required at Warrior / Elite / Master / Grandmaster / Epic / Legend / Mythic.

Star Protection Cards are usually obtained through in-game events or through Starlight Rewards. They generally only last 7 days once obtained or claimed on the event pages.

The rank protection card is the card that prevents you from demoting once you reach the previous rank. It is often acquired after reaching a higher rank: from Epic to Legend, from Legend to Mythic.

Only Star Protection Points are available in Mythic, as Star Obtaining Points are disabled.

Rank Protection Card

Rank protection cards can only be obtained from rank promotion rewards. Unlike star protection points/cards, they only activate on defeats that will result in a player being demoted (for example, a defeat resulting in a loss of stars from Legend V 0 stars to Epic I 4 stars, demoting from Legend rank to Epic rank).

Rank reset

Once the season ends, all players will start their new season with their new rank based on their ranking from the previous season. They also receive the reward for reaching a certain rank.

The ranking reset is only applied when the player logs in for the first time in the new season, but their old ranking is not saved in the leaderboard.
